Stormy, Stormy Night

Wasn't able to post after we got home last night because the rain storm apparently knocked out the cable and internet (c'mon TimeWarner!). Ally was at a loss - no TV and no internet. "That must be what it was like in the old days" she moaned.

We went to the movies last night at the Kaahumanu Center in Kahului and saw "Fair Game" - the movie about the government exposing CIA operative Valerie Plame. Much better than that ridiculous "The Tourist." We came out of theater and you could hear the rain pounding on the roof of the shopping center. The roof is a series canvas structures that cover the inside of the mall, with different levels so there are also openings that allow air inside. The sound of the rain beating down on the canvas roof was really something - sounded like Niagara Falls.

We grabbed dinner at the mall food court (Maui Tacos, of course!) and hoped the rain would let up because our car wasn't exactly parked close by. No such luck. Ally appealed to Jorge to go get the car because "you have the least hair to get wet."

As we took the escalator from the second to the first floor, we were totally rained on. Jorge went to get the car, and we recorded the rain outside the mall. I'd hoped to embed the video here, but we've been trying for hours and it just doesn't want to post. So a still will have to suffice. Make your own loud rain sounds.

Once we got home, there wasn't much to do because of the internet/cable being out. Ally stretched out on the sofa and fell asleep.
